Day In The Life Of A Head Of Workforce Development And Global Arts

My Day to Day

I work with colleagues, educators, nonprofit leaders, and community partners to expand access to education and job training. Much of my role is about empowering my team to do great work. I also participate in a lot of external meetings with both young people and leaders. Every day is about connecting people with the tools and resources they need to build better futures.

I've taken a lot of twists and turns

    Growing up, I learned from my parents and grandparents that hard work and serving your community are values worth carrying for life.

  • 2.

    After college, I started at a financial consulting firm and quickly realized I needed work that aligned with my passion for helping people.

  • 3.

    I took a chance on a new opportunity at Christie's, where I learned how to lead teams, build a business, and work harder than I thought possible.

  • 4.

    I earned a Ph.D. and became a college professor, where I found a passion for helping first-generation students find their path.

  • 5.

    I got the opportunity to lead the Community College of Rhode Island as president, which gave me the chance to help transform student success and strengthen opportunities for thousands of learners.

  • 6.

    I eventually left higher education and transitioned to workforce development.

  • 7.

    I joined Bank of America as head of workforce development, arts and heritage, combining my passions for workforce development, the arts, and creating opportunity on a global scale.
