Life & Career Milestones

I've taken a lot of twists and turns

  • 1.

Growing up in Brazil, I was encouraged to become either a doctor or an engineer—I chose engineering.

  • 2.

I started my career as a factory engineer and line manager at Nabisco.

  • 3.

While working full time, I earned my master's in industrial engineering, then moved into research and development.

  • 4.

When the plant I helped launch was fully established, my team and I were let go—it was something I never expected coming from a family where you keep the same job your whole life.

  • 5.

I decided to follow the lead of some of my friends into consulting—I ended up loving it and decided to pursue my MBA.

  • 6.

When my husband's career brought us to Alabama, I embraced another new chapter and found an opportunity at Regions Bank.

  • 7.

I moved through different roles within the bank, eventually landing in philanthropy, which gave me the chance to invest in people and communities.
