My Day to Day

My work revolves around ensuring that all students are prepared for civic life. I speak and write about our mission and work, but most of all I meet with a lot of different people in and out of the organization to discuss partnerships and projects.

My path in life took a while to figure out

  • 1.

    My mother, a Supreme Court judge in Canada, inspired my lifelong commitment to fairness and justice.

  • 2.

    I grew up in Quebec City and followed family expectations into law, starting my career as a tax attorney in Canada.

  • 3.

    After moving to the U.S., I pivoted to legal aid and co-founded an alternative-to-incarceration program in New York.

  • 4.

    Founding a school for young people in the justice system sparked my passion for education as a tool for empowerment.

  • 5.

    I transitioned fully into education work and eventually became the CEO of iCivics, where I’ve served for over a decade.

  • 6.

    At iCivics, I’ve championed civic education that empowers students to think critically and take informed action.
