My path in life has been direct

As a child of Cuban immigrants, I overcame language barriers and cultural challenges to carve my own path in education.

After failing out of high school and attending three different schools, I joined the military to escape poverty and find structure.

At 27, I returned to community college, realizing its power to embrace students regardless of their past struggles.
4.
Graduating as the first in my family to earn a degree, I discovered my passion for teaching while overcoming personal and academic obstacles.
5.
As a principal, I redefined high school education, introducing programs that connected students to real-world career paths.
6.
I earned my doctorate to inspire others and prove that success is possible, no matter how long the journey takes.
7.
Over the past decade, I’ve helped implement work-based learning experiences, allowing thousands of students to explore their futures.
