Day In The Life Of An Associate Superintendent

My Day to Day

A school district leader serves many different populations including students, parents, teachers, local government, and local businesses. A typical day involves responding to or facilitating these stakeholders individually or collaboratively toward the improvement of educational opportunities for students. This involves leading meetings, developing plans, visiting classrooms, speaking with teachers, advocating with local legislators, and a lot of writing.

    After failing out of high school and attending three different schools, I joined the military to escape poverty and find structure.

    At 27, I returned to community college, realizing its power to embrace students regardless of their past struggles.

    Graduating as the first in my family to earn a degree, I discovered my passion for teaching while overcoming personal and academic obstacles.

    As a principal, I redefined high school education, introducing programs that connected students to real-world career paths.

  • 6.

    I earned my doctorate to inspire others and prove that success is possible, no matter how long the journey takes.
