Day In The Life Of A Music Workshop Director

My Day to Day

A typical day is gloriously unpredictable. Some days I’m facilitating songwriting workshops between people who disagree politically. Other days I’m designing content systems, building partnerships, editing audio projects, or troubleshooting event logistics. At its core, my work is about turning art into architecture—building the scaffolding that lets stories, songs, and people come together in meaningful ways.

Skills & Education

Advice for getting started

Learn how modern artists live, create, and build community. You don’t have to be one but you need to understand them, because this work is about helping people tell stories, connect, and stay human in a digital world. Gain experience in creative systems, community building, digital fluency, emotional intelligence, and business. There’s no one major that captures all of this but if you study the intersection of people, art, and systems—and care deeply along the way—you’ll be on the right path.

Here's the path I took:

Life & Career Milestones

I've taken a lot of twists and turns

  • 1.

I graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with math and Bible studies degrees.

  • 2.

I moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue music, but a shift in my faith changed everything.

  • 3.

I stepped away from music until a coworker invited me to sing in his band, rekindling my love for the art.

  • 4.

My ambition eventually outpaced the band’s, and I started doing my own work as a singer-songwriter and cover artist.

  • 5.

The COVID-19 pandemic led me to Braver Angels, where I offered my voice—not for a contest, but for the cause of depolarization.

  • 6.

I became co-director of Braver Angels Music, using song to bridge divides and help people truly feel heard.
