Advice for getting started
I recommend shadowing a nurse. Go to the education department and inquire about shadowing opportunities. Nurses are very proud of their work and are eager to show others what we do. Beyond shadowing, you can pursue a nursing assistant position. From there, if you're still interested, look into nursing school.

Life & Career Milestones
My path in life has been direct
1.
I didn’t initially plan on becoming a nurse, but my mom suggested it as a stable path—I gave it a try and it soon became my calling.
2.
In nursing school, I was drawn to pediatrics during my practicum, even though I hadn’t planned on working with kids.
3.
I started as a surgical nurse, then became a charge nurse in the emergency room where I learned to handle high-stakes situations.
4.
Encouraged by mentors and leaders, I pursued a leadership role as an operations administrator, stepping into hospital-wide responsibilities.
5.
I also went back to school for a master’s degree in business, which gave me insight into healthcare management and helped me see the bigger picture in nursing.
