Advice for getting started
Growing up, my foster parents never really gave me any guidance in terms of education or career paths. My foster mom was born in the 1920s, so her lack of a sense of value in education is much different than how I feel today. While it was a struggle to not really get any guidance in that area, I can also see it as a positive because I was able to forge my own path and determine my own value in things.

I've taken a lot of twists and turns
1.
I knew early on that I wanted to eventually become a real estate agent after watching the movie “Ferris Bueller's Day Off.”
2.
I joined the military and moved with my children from Arizona to Nevada.
3.
While in the military, I was attending school at the College of Southern Nevada.
4.
Due to a change in circumstances with childcare, I had to take an early departure from the military, which also impacted my ability to use a VA loan to pay for my schooling and I had to drop out.
5.
I took a job as an administrative assistant at a real estate company to get my foot in the door and gain hands-on experience before I officially earned my real estate license a few years later.
6.
When I decided I wanted to go back to school and complete my degree, I submitted a letter to the military to petition for tuition assistance, which they granted!
7.
I earned a certification in business administration from Rio Salado College and then transferred to Grand Canyon University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in finance and economics.
8.
I now work as a realtor for eXp Realty.

Growing up, my foster parents never really gave me any guidance in terms of education or career paths. While it was a struggle to not really get any guidance in that area, I can also see it as a positive because I was able to forge my own path and determine my own value in things.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I was a foster child and never got adopted, so one of my biggest hurdles was trying to navigate my road without any kind of guidance from parents or family.
I joined the military to use a VA loan to pay for school. When I lost my childcare, I had to leave the military and drop out of school, which I couldn't afford without a loan. I later petitioned the military for assistance and went back to school.
