Milestones

My road in life has been direct.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing.
After graduating, I got a job working for a school district as an assistant to the assistant superintendent.
I felt drawn to help the parents and students who were struggling—I told the assistant superintendent about my interest and she connected me with Communities In Schools.
While working for Communities In Schools, I became a FAST (Families & Schools Together) trainer for South Carolina.
I was really impressed with the program and decided I wanted to go on to become a national FAST trainer and then an international FAST trainer.
I currently work as a senior FAST trainer supervisor and institute coach for Families & Schools Together.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for everyone

Family engagement is more of a calling than a job. In order to be successful in this field, you need to really care about parent engagement and seeing children succeed. If that's your passion, then you'll be successful here.
