Life & Career Milestones

My path in life has been direct

  • 1.

    I was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi.

  • 2.

    I come from a family of educators and didn’t think I wanted to go down the same path, but ultimately ended up doing just that.

  • 3.

    I started my college journey at Mississippi Delta Community College and then completed my undergraduate education in history at Belhaven University.

  • 4.

    After graduating, I started my career as an American government and U.S. history teacher.

  • 5.

    I decided I wanted to go into education administration, so I went back to school for my master’s degree in educational leadership.

  • 6.

    I worked as an assistant principal for a few years and then as a school leader at an independent school.

  • 7.

    I moved up into higher education, working as a university professor and a special assistant to a university president.

  • 8.

    After first contributing as an education speaker for Telos Group, I joined the nonprofit organization full-time and now get to promote peace and work on justice initiatives throughout the country.
