Day In The Life Of A Deputy Director In Public Interest Tech

My Day to Day

These days, I spend a lot of time in meetings. We now have a team of 10-15 program staff supporting over 120 Fellows, and there's a lot to discuss. On any given day, it may be Fellow learning and development (i.e. what kinds of trainings and topics we should facilitate), recruitment and selection of our next cohort, and helping Fellows and agencies troubleshoot individual issues. It definitely keeps me on my toes and requires a lot of context switching.

Skills & Education

Here's the path I took:

  • High School

  • Bachelor's Degree

    Economics

    Harvard University

Life & Career Milestones

My path in life has been direct

  • 1.

I organized voter registration drives and local campaigns in high school, fueling my passion for public service.

  • 2.

In college, I took a class on tech and innovation in government, realizing I didn’t have to choose between technology and public service.

  • 3.

My first hands-on experience in civic tech involved prototyping tools to help Boston Public Schools better engage with parents and families.

  • 4.

Guest lectures and projects showed me how technology could transform public services, from veteran healthcare to Medicare access.

  • 5.

I helped establish the U.S. Digital Corps, connecting early-career technologists with meaningful public service opportunities.

  • 6.

Now, as Deputy Director at the U.S. Digital Corps, I remain committed to expanding public interest technology and inspiring technologists to see government work as a vital career path.
