Day In The Life Of A Community Farm Manager

My Day to Day

I focus on keeping our community farm running and welcoming neighbors into the space. I support my team, work in the garden, and connect people with fresh food, wellness programs, and resources. Some days I’m planning strategy with partners, other days I’m in the dirt planting or talking with community members—but every day is about helping the community stay healthy and supported.

Skills & Education

Advice for getting started

My advice is to get busy and talk to people. A lot of my opportunities came from volunteering. As I learned, grew, and met different people, doors opened. Don't underestimate the power of talking to people and making connections. Nothing can replace the human-to-human interactions. Find a cause or organization that resonates with you and reach out to the people working there. Ask them how they got into that work and if they have any volunteer opportunities for you.

Here's the path I took:

  • High School

  • Bachelor's Degree

    Exercise Science

    Old Dominion University

  • Graduate Degree

    Global Environmental Health

    Old Dominion University
