Day In The Life Of A Speechwriter And Speech Coach

My Day to Day

None of my workdays look the same but they all certainly involve a lot of screen time! My daily tasks usually involve meeting with clients virtually to discuss new and ongoing writing projects (which can be as small as a tweet or as large as a book), drafting and editing said projects, and offering mentorship to our firm's interns.

Skills & Education

Advice for getting started

The educational path I took made sense for becoming a political speechwriter, which I accomplished before I came back to West Wing Writers. However, politics isn't the only field where speechwriters are needed! You could major or minor in English and journalism, and still being set up for success as a speechwriter.

Here's the path I took:

  • High School

  • Bachelor's Degree

    Political Science

    Northwestern University
