Day In The Life Of A Vice Chancellor Of A University

My Day to Day

No two days are the same as vice chancellor for student affairs at UC Riverside. My role is all about creating a transformational, positive out-of-classroom experience for students. From overseeing housing, dining, and athletics to supporting student clubs and activities, I ensure these services empower our students and put them at the center of everything we do.

My path in life has been direct

    I grew up in Columbus, Ohio, navigating the challenges of desegregation busing, which shaped my appreciation for diversity.

    Initially planning to pursue law, I earned my history degree from Ohio State University and explored my options.

    A chance opportunity as a graduate assistant in student activities at Ohio University opened my eyes to a career in higher education.

    While earning my doctorate, I discovered a deep passion for creating transformative student experiences on campus.

    I became the vice president of student affairs for Cal State San Bernardino in 2013.

    After five years at Cal State San Bernardino, I was appointed vice chancellor of student affairs for UC Riverside.

    At UC Riverside, I committed to fostering diversity, with initiatives closing equity gaps and supporting first-generation students.
