My path in life has been direct

    I grew up in Colorado.

  • 2.

    I was doubtful about being able to afford college but a financial aid package from Dartmouth College turned my dream into reality, and I became the first in my family to attend college.

  • 3.

    My journey in public policy began as a budget analyst in the Colorado governor’s office, managing a multi-billion-dollar K-12 budget.

  • 4.

    Transitioning to higher education, I embraced a role in community college administration.

  • 5.

    Joining Western Colorado University as a chief financial officer, I immersed myself in creating systems that prioritize student success.

  • 6.

    I transitioned to university president, where my vision remains focused on fostering inclusivity and preparing students not just for careers, but for meaningful and happy lives.

  • Becoming the first in my family to attend college was a great accomplishment for me. The first-hand experience I have with those challenges helps inform my passion and focus on creating support systems for first-gen students at my university now.
