Representing indigent clients in a law school clinic changed how I viewed fairness and justice in our economy.

  • 3.

I realized I wanted to work upstream—helping people avoid poverty-related legal issues by improving access to good jobs.

  • 4.

My first job out of law school was with a nonprofit running job training programs, where I started on the legal and contracts side.

  • 5.

Over time, I transitioned into the program side of workforce development, where I could focus on skill-building and employment.

  • 6.

I managed my student debt by juggling multiple jobs, which taught me resilience and gave me perspective on financial reality.

  • 7.
