Day In The Life Of A Peer Recovery Specialist

My Day to Day

I work with people who are navigating the challenges of reentry after incarceration. Whether I’m coaching someone who just came home after 30 years or guiding a young first-time offender through a program, my goal is to help them avoid more time behind bars and rebuild their lives. It’s tough work—sometimes they fight me because they’re still fighting themselves. But when they realize I’m on their side and they can see a future for themselves, that’s when I know I’m where I’m meant to be.

Skills & Education

Here's the path I took:

  • High School

  • Associate's Degree

    General Studies

    Southside Virginia Community College

  • Certification

    Business and Entrepreneurship

    Georgetown University

  • I spent 26 years in prison. It wasn't how I expected my life to go but I used my time in prison to turn my life around, better myself, and work towards reentry. Now I devote my career to helping others going through the same thing.
