Life & Career Milestones
My path in life has been direct
1.
I graduated during the Great Recession in 2009 and took my first opportunity in hotels, moving wherever the job took me.
2.
I spent seven years in the hotel industry, moving into sales and management where I learned how to lead people and build relationships.
3.
Wanting a more entrepreneurial, impact-driven career, I returned to Philadelphia to earn my MBA at Wharton and pivot into real estate.
4.
After graduating in 2019, I skipped the traditional Wall Street path and launched Voyage Investments with a longtime friend.
5.
COVID hit soon after we launched, but I dipped into my personal savings and went all in to keep the business afloat through a difficult real estate market.
6.
After struggling to close larger projects, we partnered with Shift Capital, gaining the experience and capital access we needed to take on bigger developments.
7.
We transformed a building that had been vacant for decades into a high school where young people can earn diplomas and career-focused certificates.
8.
Today, I use real estate to create quality housing, jobs, and opportunities for communities like the one I grew up in.
Defining Moments
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
The further you climb up in business, the fewer people you'll find who look like you. I'll start to feel imposter syndrome but I just remind myself that I'm here for a reason. Sometimes there will be biases. Just be competent and confident.
