My days typically include fundraising, meeting with the leadership team, getting coffee with a donor or community partner, visiting camp and interacting with students and teachers, budget oversight, and Board communication.

Life & Career Milestones

My path in life has been direct

    Growing up in Colorado, I was drawn to the outdoors—this passion led me to pursue a degree in environmental biology.

  • 2.

    While studying environmental sciences in college, I discovered my love for teaching by engaging students in outdoor science labs.

  • 3.

    I joined Teach for America in Houston, Texas, where I learned the transformative power of outdoor education while teaching in a windowless classroom.

  • 4.

    I went to graduate school and found my calling in outdoor environmental education.

  • 5.

    I joined Sierra Nevada Journeys in 2009.

  • 6.

    My first role at Sierra Nevada Journeys involved teaching and designing educational programs, which allowed me to combine my love for science and the outdoors.

  • 7.

    Over the years, I grew with the organization, taking on leadership roles and helping to expand our reach to over 30,000 students annually.

  • 8.

    I now serve as CEO of Sierra Nevada Journeys, where I am committed to creating access to nature for all students, regardless of background.
