Flight Test Engineer
I'm a flight test engineer for an aerospace and aviation company focused on creating all-electric aircrafts.
Day to Day
On days where we’re not flight testing, there's a lot of preparation for upcoming tests. This includes defining what data needs to be collected, how it will be collected, and conducting a safety assessment on that plan. On days where there is a flight test, I usually fill the role of test conductor directing our control room.
Advice for Getting Started
Here's the first step for college students
I recommend trying out different jobs or internships in order to figure out what you love. Pay attention to what you did and didn't like about those experiences. Then, once you narrow it down and find something you love, find someone in that field to help mentor you along your journey.
