Day In The Life Of A Director Of American Indian Outreach

Milestones

My road in life has been direct.
I grew up in Billings, Montana.
When I was nine years old, I was given a Crow Apsáalooke name meaning “raises good children,” instilling a lifelong mission in me to uplift Native students.
I started my career as an elementary school teacher.
I eventually decided to go back to school, earning dual master’s degrees in Indigenous teacher education and educational leadership.
After graduating, I served as the Director of Indian Education in Ronan School District.
I now work as the director of American Indian outreach at the Native American Achievement Center at Montana State University Billings.
Guided by a passion for equity, I bridge educational gaps, fostering a vibrant native community.

I delve into each student's story, ensuring they're connected to the right resources, from advising and financial aid to health and counseling services. I'm often a listening ear, ensuring every student feels supported in their journey. With a keen eye on data, I tailor academic paths to fit each student's needs. My work is a blend of personal connection and strategic planning, as I ensure students are heard and honored.
