Advice for getting started
As I got closer to high school graduation, my dad made it clear that he wanted me to follow his path and join his construction company. However, I knew that I wanted to work in technology. It took some convincing, but he eventually accepted that technology was my passion and that this is the space I wanted to work in.

Life & Career Milestones
My path in life has been direct
1.
As a huge gamer, I started trying to hack video games to give myself health or money boosts.
2.
I ended up finding forums of others who were also trying to hack into those video games—I learned a lot about the techniques people were using to break into machines and compromise systems.
3.
During my senior year of high school, I participated in a dual enrollment program and took classes in subjects like anti-hacking to solidify my skills.
4.
After high school, I was accepted into the Year Up workforce development program where I developed hard skills in information security as well as soft skills needed for the workforce in general.
5.
Year Up also helped me get an internship in information security with Hulu.
6.
After my internship, Hulu kept me on as a security analyst.
7.
I’m also currently working toward my associate degree in information security to bolster my skills.
