My path in life has been direct

I moved to the U.S. from China at age four and had to relearn Chinese after fully replacing it with English.

In high school, I fell in love with journalism after a teacher encouraged me to join a class, despite my fear of interviewing strangers.

During college, I discovered a passion for coding, which opened doors to storytelling through interactive data visualizations.
4.
My first job as a graphics editor at The Washington Post allowed me to create innovative visual stories during the Obama-Romney election.
5.
At ProPublica, I developed data-driven investigative tools, including resources exposing conflicts of interest in the pharmaceutical industry.
6.
Transitioning into leadership, I championed equity and diversity while leading teams at Open News and The Markup.
7.
At The Markup, I led investigations into tech accountability, like exposing Facebook’s tracking pixels in sensitive online platforms.
8.
Now, as chief impact officer, I focus on making journalism actionable, empowering communities to create tangible change.
