Milestones

My road in life took a while to figure out.
In high school, I was recruited to play softball at a university in San Marcos, TX. During college, I was a sports intern at KXAN-TV in Austin, TX.
During my internship, I worked an NCAA track and field event and met a CBS Sports producer. A year later, I found myself in NYC working with him as a staff researcher at CBS Sports.
I came back to TX and got a job with an indie production company working with a well-known documentary filmmaker. Our company produced nationally televised docs for Frontline and Amercian Experience.
I spent a year producing and directing an award-winning independent documentary that screened at multiple film festivals around the country and won several film grants.
I managed to get a job as a project manager at a K-12 education technology company. A friend of mine recommended me for the job even though I had no "education" or "technology" experience.
I spent seven years moving through the ranks of the K-12 company and then went to work for various technology vendors based in India and they specializing in content digitization and ePublishing.
Today, I am actively involved in public service in the city I live in. I have an opportunity to create and develop policy at the local level. I also engage with citizens to make an impact in our city.
My road has led me to my current role. These days, I feel a nudge to pursue another degree; in public affairs. If I pursue this, I will have come full circle to the beginning of my road!
