My road in life took a while to figure out.
Got my BA in Mathematics because that was my best subject in HS.
Not really sure what to do, I substitute taught to see if I really wanted to pursue teaching.
Decided teaching was not for me so I explored other math-based professions.
Took a Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) class at a community college.
Got a drafting position at a civil engineering company.
After 5 years, 2 companies and declining recession, I got a new job at a utility engineering company.
Worked my way up and I now head the drafting department I started in.

The Noise I Shed

From Teachers:

"You should just aim for a community college and then see if you really want to go to a university."

The old saying "find something you love doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life" couldn't be more true. Find your passion and realize your dreams. This is your life to live, make sure it's what you want. On the same hand though, if your dream is to have nice things and travel the world, having an education will help you to achieve those things.

I didn't have anyone to guide me. Talk to your counselors, friends, anyone who has any advice about the choices you're making. Don't just listen to one person, get as much input so you can make more informed decisions about your future.
