Jennifer Arnold

Milestones

My road in life has been direct.
Because she'd had so many surgeries as a child, she'd been around doctors, had an interest in medicine.
She wasn't sure if she would be able to be a doctor because of her height.
Realized that no college student knows if they can be a doctor; "you haven't done it yet."
Went for it, made it clear in her essays that she was a little person.
Was accepted into her dream school, Johns Hopkins University; they didn't think her height would be a problem.
Felt good about that acceptance because at other schools, she'd had to spend her interviews defending her abilities.
Says her resilience comes from her belief that "life is short"; she wants to enjoy every moment she can.
Now works as a neonatologist at Texas Children's Hospital and stars on a reality show about her family life.

At the University of Oklahoma, the team meets Mike Biggerstaff, a professor of meteorology, where they learn what it is about weather that lights him up. Moving on to Houston, Texas, they visit Jennifer Arnold, a 3-foot, 2-inch-tall doctor and star of the reality series, The Little Couple, where they hear her story of overcoming personal obstacles to realize her dreams. Finally, in New Orleans, La., the team talks with Charline Gipson, a corporate lawyer, and discovers what 'success' means to her and the steps she took to achieve it. Charline's story of taking her own path despite others' disapproval inspires Denise who realizes she can do the same in life.
