Today started in a flurry of activity. We were up, dressed and out the door in fifteen minutes and on our way to Central Los Angeles. The drive in LA traffic in the morning was an experience in itself. At one point, there were twelve lanes across the freeway and James was having a panic attack. Our first interview was with Nick Ut, the photographer who took the famous photo of the Vietnamese girl running away from a nepalm attack. He wasn't what we had anticipated but was charismatic, sweet and talented beyond what any of us had expected. After he had showed us his portfolio, we sat with him and discussed his most famous photo of Kim Phuc amongst other things. We left the Associated Press offices and began our journey down to San Diego. Lauren was not happy with how boring the freeway was. Bring on those coastal drives, she said. We went for a meal and the waiter was so rude. He threw our cutlery at us and called us names...we left quickly. Our hostel for the night is more like a war bunker than anything else, but a roof over our heads all the same. We are off to make friends, eat $2 tacos and watch Anchorman in the PARTY ROOM! Bye bye now! Alice, James and Lauren
