This project, Roadtrip Nation, appeals to me because it is one of the only times I will be able to ask so many of the questions I wonder about every day. It seems like everyone is willing to tell you how to get to medical or law school, but who can tell you how they ended up selling soaps to millions of people? I feel like I might be one of the soap people, and I don't know how to figure out what that feels like until I talk to those people. This is an opportunity to look at the alternatives to the obvious paths. This is an opportunity to ask passionate people how they found the courage to follow and indulge in their passions. It's an opportunity to look at the risks successful people have taken and better identify frivolous risks from rewarding ones. At this time in my life Roadtrip Nation is an opportunity for me to find the remedy to my indecisiveness. How many times do I have to change my major and my mind before I find a way to change it and decide for real? I need a basis of knowledge first to be able to do that, and roadtrip nation is an opportunity for me to gain a feel for the reality of the situations out there. |
