While reminiscent of the best 60's and 70's rock, Swimclub maintains a wistful 21st century sophistication. In rockers, mid-tempo character studies and ballads the band juxtaposes inventive hooks against the sad interplay of dreams and the often pedestrian nature of real life.
Greg Adams – vocals, guitar
Kevin Bryant – drums
Gene Davenport – vocals, guitar
Jim Davenport – bass
Swimclub was formed in New York City in 2005.
Greg and Jim currently live in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Gene resides on the upper east side of Manhattan in a dilapidated tenement which he says is haunted. Kevin maintains the life of a gentlemen farmer upstate.
After a particularly inspired show in Brooklyn one winter evening in 2007, the band decided to make a record. It’s a fine album and they are quite proud of it. Swimclub is currently rehearsing for a tour, licensing some tunes and preparing to release the record in physical form.
Produced, engineered and mixed by Pete Donnelly (Graham Parker, the Capitol Years, Death Vessel). Tracks 7, 9 and 10 recorded and mixed by Brent Gorton (Kamikazee Hearts) to 1/2" tape on 8-track reel to reel. Recorded at Miriam Audio in Philadelphia, PA and Brent's house in Albany, NY. Mastered by Fred Kervorkian (Ryan Adams, the White Stripes, the Apples in Stereo) in New York, NY.
