“I knew no matter how hard it was going to be, I had to keep going. I just had to keep going.”

Determination Hard Work Passion Risk Perseverance

cooking, criticism, travel

Kate Fay, executive chef at Cibo restaurant in Auckland, New Zealand, thought her passion was traveling when she was younger. But after a trip to Israel, she discovered her passion might be something else. While in Israel, Kate worked at a kitchen on a kibbutz, a rural community. The other women working in the kitchen immediately noticed her talent for cooking. After returning home, Kate thought, "this is what I am going to do." From there, she went to college and embarked on her culinary path. The only girl in an all-male class, Kate didn't let anything deter her from pursuing a path in the culinary arts and rising to the top.
