With pride, Spokane Tribal Council Secretary Bob Brisbois explains his land: "This is the tribal government headquarters for the Spokane Tribe of Indians, in Wellpinit, Wash. It was established in 1881, by the executive order of President Hayes. We're not a treaty tribe, we're an executive order tribe." While Bob is at peace with his job now, he didn't always have his life together. After six years in the military, Bob changed careers and finally found a job he enjoys—as council member of the Spokane Indian Tribe.
