Gwendolyn's Open Road
Gwendolyn Zepeda grew up in a fairly poor and unstable family where no pushed her to do better for herself. Luckily, she had a mentor who had encouraged her to apply to college at the University of Texas, where she was accepted. But she ended up getting pregnant at a young age and had to leave college because she wasn’t doing well in her classes. She began writing soon after she left college in an attempt to create a stable life for herself. As a new mother, writing and blogging became her creative outlet. She realized that she wanted to write books and become a novelist. Her books include Houston, We Have a Problema and Growing Up with Tamales. Gwendolyn continues to blog on her own website and on televisionwithoutpity.com.

The things Gwendolyn said in this video really got to me, because I had the same kind of childhood she did. I could really relate to all that she had to say and even the fact that she\'s a writer. I want to become an author more than anything, and it was extremely inspirational to see someone who had the same life as me and the same dream actually achieve that dream.
